The Emergency Medical program is designed to introduce you to a career that is exciting and personally rewarding. This academically rigorous and physically demanding program emphasizes teamwork and effective communication skills. Students will be asked to demonstrate a positive attitude and good moral characteristics that exemplify that of an EMS employee. This is a college-level program with the primary focus on Emergency Medical Services and obtaining the NREMT Certification. You are encouraged to be sponsored by a local Public Safety department and must be able to meet the physical demands of the program.
Recommendations from both your guidance counselor and technical coordinator are required. Some specific EMS skills covered in this program include: Emergency Medical Technician, Emergencies & Trauma, Baseline Vital Signs-Patient Assessment, Human Anatomy, Medical & Behavioral Conditions, Rescue Techniques, Ambulance Operations, Ethics & Ethical Issues, Medical & Ethical Issues.
