Unprecedented innovation is at our fingertips in the phones and computers we use. Learning to use these tools, building skills to create and develop, who knows where it might lead you!

Digital Arts and Software (DASD) at UTC introduces students to software development concepts and soft skills necessary for the video game development industry. Students will learn how to create, implement, and evaluate assets (2D Art, 3D Art, Programming Scripts, etc.) using a variety of industry level software (Photoshop, Blender, C#) to produce interactive media within the Unity Real-Time Development Platform.

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to utilize industry software and concepts to create digital assets that can be used in various industries such as Video Game Development, TV, Film, Medical Simulations, Engineering, or Architecture.

Meet Mr. Stephen Wong – a digital explorer and a 2010 graduate of Full Sail University in Computer Animation. He merges 3D animation, digital art, and programming, sparking creativity. With expertise in digital literacy, animation, and game development, he champions teamwork and growth. A bridge builder between art and programming, he enhances collaboration by helping others boost their creativity, passion, and project power.

Outside of the classroom, Stephen's a puzzle of passions and quirks. Mastering ADHD energy for creativity bursts, he enjoys video games that foster connection. Balancing family time with Freemasonry and mentoring, his secret recipe includes daily meditation and Taichi-Chuan practice.

Skills Developed in This Program
Any student who is attending the DASD class for the first time will be required to complete the 1st Year Student curriculum. 

1st Year students of this class will learn the essentials of video game production using the Unity Game Engine, which includes knowledge in computer programming, 3D polygonal modeling, 2D digital graphics, project management, computer science concepts, digital literacy, and 21st Century Skills. 

1st Year students will be required to take the Unity Certified User exam as an Artist and Programmer and may earn those certifications on successfully passing the exam.

2nd Year students will focus on project management throughout the school year in group projects. They will utilize Augmented and Virtual Reality technology such as the Meta Quest 2 and Microsoft HoloLens 2 and create projects to be used on those devices. They will be required to take the Unity Certified User exam as a VR Developer.

 2nd Year students of this class will be able to specialize in one of two branches, Artist or Programmer, and focus those skills on a game development pipeline.
